Soyuz rocket missions in 2001


January 24, 07:28:42 Moscow Time (04:28 GMT; 11:28 p.m. EST on January 23): A Soyuz-U rocket carrying the Progress M1-5 (No. 254) spacecraft with 2,677 kilograms of propellant for Mir's deorbiting maneuvers lifted off from Site 1 in Baikonur.


February 26, 11:09:35 Moscow Time (3:09 a.m. EST): A Soyuz-U rocket lifted off from Site 1 in Baikonur carrying the Progress M-44 (No. 244) cargo ship toward the International Space Station, ISS.


April 28, 13:37:20 Baikonur Time (07:37 GMT, 3:37 a.m. EST): A Soyuz-U rocket lifted off from Site 1 in Baikonur carrying the Soyuz TM-32 spacecraft with commander Talgat Musabaev, flight engineer Yuri Baturin and a US space tourist Dennis Tito on their way to the ISS.


May 21, 04:32 Baikonur Time: The first Soyuz-FG rocket with a modified injection system ("forsunochnaya golovka") on the engines of the first and second stages, lifted off from from Site 1 in Baikonur, carrying the Progress M1-6 cargo ship on its way to the International Space Station.


May 29, 20:55:00 Moscow Decree Time (17:55 GMT, 1:55 p.m. EDT): A Soyuz-U rocket lifted off from Plesetsk's Pad 4 at Site 43 carrying a military satellite, likely a Kobalt (11F695) imaging spacecraft. The payload was officially identified as Kosmos-2377.


July 20, 00:17 GMT: The Molniya-M rocket successfully delivered a Molniya-3K (14F33) satellite, for military communications after the launch at from Pad 4 at Site 43 in in Plesetsk. This launch was earlier expected in June.


August 21, 12:23 Moscow Time, (09:23:54 GMT): A Soyuz-U rocket lifted off from Site 1 in Baikonur carrying the Progress-M45 cargo ship toward the ISS. This launch was postponed from June and July.


September 15, 03:35 Moscow Time: A Soyuz-U rocket lifted off from Site 1 in Baikonur carrying the Docking Compartment for the Russian segment of ISS.


October 21, 12:59 Moscow Time: A Soyuz-U rocket lifted off from Site 1 in Baikonur carrying the Soyuz TM-33 spacecraft with two Russian cosmonauts and a French researcher onboard, heading toward the ISS.


October 25, 15:34 Moscow Time (7:34 a.m. EDT): A Molniya-M rocket lifted off from Pad 3 at Site 43 in Plesetsk and ten minutes later successfully delivered Molniya-3 (11F658) spacecraft into its initial orbit. The fourth stage of the launcher was expected to fire again to push the spacecraft into its final highly elliptical orbit with an inclination 62.8 degrees toward the Equator. The launch was previously scheduled for October 11.


November 26, 21:24 Moscow Time: A Soyuz-FG rocket lifted off from Site 1 in Baikonur carrying the Progress M1-7 cargo ship toward the ISS. This launch was previously scheduled for November 14.
